I read about a car that some students rigged so that it ran on vegitable oil that was left-over from varios fast-food chains. But I don't think that would work very well if all cars ran off veggie-oil. I know that solor panels might work in Florida, but not seattle. Also there are lots of pros and cons for both ideas. Examle: the price of vegitable oil would probably go way up, and it might be kind of difficult to drive around with a giant plate of solor absorbing technology hanging way of the roof of your car.
